Therapy Services

Individual Psychotherapy

Having a space to put one's thoughts and feeling to words can often help a person better understand him or herself. As a modern therapist, I actively engage you in thoughtful discussion about your life to help you find the change that is needed. My therapeutic approach integrates psychodynamic and family systems therapy with cognitive-behavioral strategies. We will identify and build upon your strengths and provide you with skills to manage your mood. We also examine the important relationships in your life to encourage healthy, fulfilling interactions.

Marriage/Couples Therapy

When conflicts and tensions within the couple impact the emotional connection, couples therapy can be an effective process toward a more secure, fulfilling partnership. I have completed Level I, II, and III training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and can provide a nonjudgemental, supportive environment for partners to learn skills to:

  • identify and shift negative interaction patterns,

  • manage conflict and tensions

  • utilize effective communication,

  • increase friendship and intimacy.

Family Therapy

Sometimes the most important relationships in your life also become the most challenging. The stress of family conflict can disrupt the peace you desire at home. I have extensive, specialized training in Family Therapy and have worked with families for over 10 years. I will aid your family in learning ways to improve the interaction and communicate needs in a respectful, caring way.

TeleHealth

In this busy world, weekly therapy appointments can feel like a challenging task to maintain. For established patients, I offer the option for telephone or video appointments. These effective means of communication have been described as immensely helpful for those who travel for work, are away at college, get stuck in the office, or simply get caught in bad weather. I am licensed in VA, MD, DC and CA which allows me to provide telehealth appointments to individuals within those states.

I have also received PsyPact approval.

Telehealth now available in AZ, CO, DE, DC, GA, IL, MD, MO, NE, NV, NH, NC, OK, PA, TN, TX, UT, AL, WV, MN, KY

Psychological and Educational Assessment

The decision to undergo psychological assessment can be stressful. Families can feel nervous about both the process and the results. After an initial intake interview, I will select the appropriate tests required to ensure accurate diagnosis and effective treatment plan. When undergoing testing, I spend time helping you feel comfortable in the testing process to help ease your concerns. Shortly following assessment, I provide detailed, concise reports that illustrate both one's strengths and areas of growth, with specific, actionable recommendations toward treatment. During our feedback session, all information is thoroughly reviewed and any remaining questions you may have are fully addressed. I have significant experience in assessment of:

  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

  • Specific Learning Disorders (i.e. dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia)

  • Emotional Disorders

  • Developmental Delay

  • Admissions/Advanced Academic Testing
